Tatyanna Wright's Haute Mama - The Book - Coming soon We all know the media adores pregnant celebrities. Just look at the magazines stocking shelves that feature Gwenyth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Salma Hayek and Gwen Stefani during their pregnancies. Wholesome or sexy, the pregnant celebrity is always portrayed as glamorous—a trend that is only growing stronger. But what about the rest of us women who cannot afford their luxuries—the stylists, and designers who assist in showing off their latest maternity range? Haute Mama is a fashion style guide for the pregnant urban woman that offers more than just tips on what to wear. It will show you how to accommodate your existing wardrobe with your changing figure and instruct you in what clothing to avoid from painful shoes and impractical stockings to blouses that expose you to eager beavers trying to sneak a peak at your milky mammaries!

    Fall Maternity Trends

Autumn is here, and with it arrives fresh, adaptable fall looks just in time for you to embrace your own new form and to keep you looking like one Haute Mama.

    1. Wrap Coat:
How lucky you are to enjoy one of this seasons voluminous trends – the wrap coat. Marc Jacobs Fall read-to-wear collection has several belly-friendly coats with a sash that can be worn over or under the belly. The Paul & Joe Sister line has a beautiful empire ‘bastion’ swing coat with pleated details. DKNY also offers a charming swing coat with rouching across the back. For the maternity-wear enthusiast, consider Isabella Oliver’s fabulous Cocoon Coat (shown below), or multi-functional Kimono Wrap. Both coats are designed to be worn post partum.

    2. Prints:
Boho-chic meets the English countryside with the return of plaid and floral prints. Maternity label Jules & Jim has a line of stunning tweed mix and match pieces available in pants, blazers and waistcoat vests.  If you’re not looking to buy maternity, consider Anna Sui. Her Fall collection has many pregnancy-friendly designs like cute tassel tie front cardigans and paisley print dresses with gathered elastic empire waist banding. Perfect additions you’ll continue to wear post baby. Finally intarisia, the native artisan inspired patterned knit. Look for Twelth St. by Cynthia Vincent's 'log cabin cardigan'.

    3. Length:
It’s all about length and layering. A long drapey dress in fluid jersey creates an elongated silhouette while the extra fabric nicely swathes your bump. Look for skirts with an elasticized waist-band like Rachel Pally’s long full skirt in flowing jersey. James Perse offers a graceful lengthy wool blend skirt. But if you really want a fabulously flattering long skirt that loves a pregnant body, try Isabella Oliver's Smooth Line Skirt, a long black maternity skirt easily worn with boots, heels, flats, even as a strapless dress!
